In 2004, Brockville Police Service established an Emergency Response Team for the purpose of enhanced citizen and officer safety during the execution of search warrants, in particular for illegal drugs where violence and weapons are increasingly common place.
A selection process identified 8 officers for this assignment. A full week of training by instructors from the Peel Regional Police Tactical & Rescue Unit was conducted in Brockville and each of our officers successfully completed the intensive training sessions and practical exercises. The team has also sucessfully completed a course in Cornwall and are now qualified as a 'Containment Team' as per the Provincial Standards.
