Operation Lifesaver
Operation Lifesaver is an international public education program designed to eliminate collisions, injuries and deaths at highway/railway intersections and on railroad right-of-ways. This program is sponsored by the police, government, transportation organizations and our railroads, CN and CP.

The goal of Operation Lifesaver is to increase public awareness about the dangers where roadway crossing and train tracks meet, and on the railroad right-of-way.

The program strives to improve driver and pedestrian behaviour at highway rail intersections by encouraging compliance with the law, crossing signs and signals and the use of common sense safety rules.

Fatalities can be avoided through the realization that trains are unable to stop within 1/2 mile and that railroad property is not designed or intended as a playground or a shortcut to school or work.
