Chief for a Day - Participant Shane Savage - September 1, 2004

Shane Savage is a 9 year old who has exhibited ectreme interest in policing. He has assisted at Riverfest, Ribfest, and the Old Fashioned Picnic, while dressed in his momemade 'uniform'. This young man is also very knowledgeable on policing issues and has impressed a number of our members with his enthusiasm. As a result, Shane was made a 'honourary' Chief for a Day on September 1, 2004. He attended with Chief King and learned the administrative responsibilities, toured police headquarters, and walked the dowtown beat with Bike Patrol Officer Cst. Laurie Burns. Shane's choice for lunch was a first (East Side Mario's) as opposed to the usual McDonald's or Tim Horton's selection by previous
 
Chief's for a day. Chief Savage was also given the opportunity to be the first Chief for a Day to tour the new Brockville Court House, which he found to be a very large building and modern. He maintained very good notes of his day at police headquarters and took a number of pictures for his scrapbook. Hopefully, this visit will be the subject of one of his projects this fall.
